Pastor’s Notes 4-7-20

I pray that everyone is staying safe in these difficult times! You are constantly in my prayers! I want to update you on how Forest Lake continues to pursue its priorities and fulfill its vision to Seek God, Share Love, and Build Community.

Forest Lake continues to offer a variety of worship experiences. We will continue to record and share weekly worship services throughout our time apart. Additionally, this week we will record a Maundy Thursday/Good Friday worship service. (The two will be combined into one service.) That service should be available on Thursday. Of course, we’ll have our Easter Sunday service available for you this week as well. Please take the opportunity to thank Zac Head, Luvada Harrison, and Hyunhee Byun for their faithful service in providing these worship services for our congregation.

Our children’s department is adding to our Easter worship experience with a series of videos telling the Easter story through Resurrection Eggs. Each day, a family opens an egg and tells the story about the symbol they find in the egg. You can find the videos on the Forest Lake Facebook page. If you have trouble locating them, let me know, and we’ll help you out. Thanks to Carlie and Pam for their hard work in bringing this experience to us!

Spiritual Formation
More classes are getting online! Several of our Sunday School classes are meeting regularly online through Zoom. If you’d like information about how to connect your class or small group, let us know.

Disciple Fast Track Bible Study continues to meet Wednesday nights at 6:00 via Zoom. This week, we’ll be studying the book of Acts. If you’d like to join in the discussion, let us know.

Age Level Ministries (Family Ministry)
In addition to providing us with the Easter videos, Carlie is providing resources to the families of our young children for doing church at home and for coping with the shelter in place order.

Tommy continues to meet twice a week via Zoom with our youth group keeping them connected to one another and the church.

Our scouting ministries continue as well. Each week, our Scouts BSA troops meet by Zoom, and this Friday, our girl troop will try a virtual campout in which each scout sets up a tent in her own backyard, and they connect via Zoom. It should be a lot of fun, and it will give our younger scouts the opportunity to pass some rank requirements that require outdoor experience. Various Scouts BSA councils are providing online merit badge classes as well, and some of our girls have signed up for those.

We continue to support our various mission agencies as well as taking care of our own members. Several of our members (I hesitate to name them, because I’ll miss some) are working to provide masks for the hospital and, soon, for our congregation. Thank you for making a difference!

Thank you for the generous support you continue to offer Forest Lake. Because of your generosity, our mission continues during the COVID-19 pandemic! You can make your gifts through the mail or online by clicking .

You’ve probably seen the news about financial assistance through the Small Business Administration. Our Lay Leader, Lay Member to Annual Conference, SPRC Chair, Finance Committee Chair, Business Administrator, Weekday Kids Directors and I continue to explore the Payroll Protection Plan to see if it’s an option Forest Lake should consider. I want to offer my deepest thanks to this group of leaders who is working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of our church!

Thank you for all the ways you continue to be the church even when we can’t gather as the church.

Yours in Christ,
