FLUM Weekday Kids is an outreach of Forest Lake United Methodist Church to the community and endeavors to be Enriching Children’s Lives With God’s Love by providing a nurturing Christian environment and developmentally appropriate learning activities.

All children and families regardless of their race, creed, faith or cultural background are welcome to participate in our programs.

Our Philosophy and Practice

All children deserve a chance to learn and all parents are entitled to the assurance that their child is being nurtured in a safe and loving environment.

We recognize that all children are individuals with different personalities and different rates of growth.

We respect and promote these diversities in individuals, abilities, and experiences for all ages, infants through preschoolers and elementary through middle school ages.

Our children are encouraged and guided in their development through play – a child’s work. This will include; art, music, physical activities, hands-on activities, social interaction, dramatic play, books and stories. Math and literacy skills are advanced through the mediums of play.

A daily schedule will be followed to provide a planned environment of developmentally appropriate learning activities and play to facilitate development of the “whole child.”

We endeavor to provide warm, sensitive, and affectionate teachers, care givers, after school and summer camp counselors and a positive environment to provide a predictable and consistent world away from home for our young ones.

FLUM Weekday Kids offers the following programs:

My School Preschool – Located at FLUM since 1996

Serving children aged 6 weeks-Preschool 4′s with classes for
Babies, Creepers, Tots, 2′s, 3′s, 4′s
Open year-round 7:00am-5:30pm Monday-Friday.
Closed on major Holidays – Calendar available
Staff to Child Ratios- 1:4 Infants /Toddlers; 1:8 Preschool
Full-time Teachers/Caregivers include 1/3 with BS degrees,
1/3 with some college, 1/3 with years of experience
Part-time staff at end-of-day are University students
Curriculum includes Developmentally Appropriate Learning Activities
with Weekly Themes and a Daily Schedule
Chapel weekly for Preschool 3′s & 4′s
Snacks provided AM and PM – Lunch not provided
Member of Alabama United Methodist Association of Preschools

Summer Camp – Located at FLUM since 1996

Serving children in Tuscaloosa area aged Kindergarten – 7th Grade
Open 7:30-5:30 M-F during June and July
Directed by Janet Edwards and Shundre’ Nevels
University student counselors; Staff to Child Ratio – 1:8
Program includes: Daily Devotion, Arts and Crafts, Reading, Gym and Outdoor play, Skating, Vacation Bible School and Weekly trips for Bowling, Swimming, Movies, and Shelby Park Water Play
Snacks provided AM and PM – Lunch not provided

After School Enrichment Program – Located at FLUM since 1980

Pick-up at University Place Elementary-Others with own transportation may attend
Open 2:30-5:30pm M-F following city school calendar
University student counselors; Staff to Child Ratio – 1:8
Developmentally Appropriate Activities, Homework/Tutoring Time
Facilities include; Classroom, Gym, Playground
Daily Snack provided

Infants, Creepers, Tots, 2′s – $540 (7:00-5:30)
Tots/2′s – $485 (7:00-3:30)
3′s & 4′s – $515 (7:00-5:30)
3′s & 4′s – $460 (7:00-3:30)
Part-time Monthly Tuition Fees for 3 or 4 day per week attendance available for 2′s, 3′s, 4′s.
