Pastor’s Notes 8-10-18: Wednesday Nights

By Dr. Kevin Thomas —

Our Wednesday night meals will resume on August 22. I hope you’ll make it a part of your weekly routine to come and enjoy excellent homemade meals and great fellowship. These meals are an excellent, low-pressure opportunity to introduce your friends to Forrest Lake as well. After the meals, I invite you to stay and participate in one of our small groups or classes. I’m really excited about our fall lineup, and I’m sure any of them will be a blessing to you!

Beth Moore Bible Study led by Laura Mullins. Along with video presentations by Beth Moore, Laura will guide you through the book of Daniel. “Just as the prophet Daniel faced unbelievable pressures-to compromise his faith, to live in a hostile culture, and to confront temptations and
threats-today’s believers face many of the same trials. Introducing Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy, from best-selling author Beth Moore. This fascinating study of the book of Daniel shows how individuals can live with integrity in today’s self-absorbed society.

Harper Lee Book Study led by Reshia Martin. Our newest staff members will host this frank discussion of To Kill and Mockingbird and Go Set a Watchman by Alabama’s own (and University of Alabama graduate) Harper Lee. Lee’s work has prompted discussion about human biases for decades and has never been more timely than it is today. Her work still speaks to us, today, and this group will be an excellent opportunity to glean from her wisdom.

Quilting led by Fay LeClair. Explore your creative side as you try your hand at quilting guided by the superb talent of our very own Fay LeClair. This class will be a great opportunity for you to explore a new hobby and build relationships with other class members as you share your lives and your stitches.

Of course, we will also offer children, youth, and college ministries after the meal, and you’re welcome to join the choir in rehearsal for Sunday morning worship.

I hope you’ll find a place to connect on Wednesday nights this fall. You’ll have the opportunity to sign-up for a group at our first meal on August 22, or you can call the office anytime to let us know. New groups and classes will begin on September 5.
