Community Services of West Alabama thanks our church for hosting their First Time Home Owners Partnership Program for the last two years in the Koinonia Classroom. This program helps individuals achieve mortgage readiness and assists people navigating the home buying process through to closing. This program has helped over 50 families close on their first home. A celebration, The Home Matter Event, will be on June 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Gateway in Alberta to shine the light on those who have helped support this program.
The Habitat Home is almost completed. Thank you so much to Marvin McKinley and his crew of church members for all the hard work. Thank you also to all who have donated to the missions fund for the $10,000 pledge to Habitat. We are still collecting money for this ministry.
Thank you to Steve Wilson and Gene Smith for picking up the Secret Meals food for the students at University Place Elementary School. These summer meals will be given to the students who may not have enough to eat this summer. This ministry is called Feed My Lambs.
Our “Neighborhood Time” will start on Wednesday, June 7 at 4 p.m. This is a time for the church to meet our neighbors. The college and youth activities will be held outside, as well. We will have an activity every Wednesday throughout the summer. Our goal is to get to know our neighbors and have them get to know our church family. We will have lemonade, popsicles, pizza, music, games, water activities, and lots of conversations. Please let us know if you can help.
We are excited about our summer home-bound visitation with the children! We will visit on Wednesdays starting on June 7.
