Outreach Update 6-17-17

Our summer “Neighborhood Time” will be on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. The college and youth activities will be held outside, as well. Our goal is to get to know our neighbors and have them get to know our church family. We will have lemonade, popsicles, pizza, music, games, water activities, and lots of conversations. Please let us know if you can help.

Holt High School is asking for gently used clothing for their clothes closet. They are looking for sizes infant through big and tall high school sizes. You can drop off the clothes at the high school.

The Habitat Home is completed. Thanks so much to Marvin McKinley and his crew of church members for all the hard work. Thank you, also, to all who have donated to the missions fund for our $10,000 Habitat pledge. We are still collecting money for this ministry. Join us for the dedication service for the Habitat Home this Saturday, June 17 at 10 a.m. The house is located on Juanita Drive.

We will resume our Monday Luncheons in September.

In July we will send cards to our home-bound members. We have 16 members we will send cards to for 26 days. Please help us by writing cards or notes to 16 people. We can give you an address label or we will address the card for you. Thank you.

Over Christmas we are going with Filter of Hope on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Our college students are leading this trip. We are in the process of deciding which week is best. Please let us know if you are interested in attending. More information can be found at www.filterofhope.org.

We are collecting nursery books and toys for our two year old class. Please donate age-appropriate items to the church office. Also, we are looking for nursery workers for the summer. If you know of someone who can volunteer or someone looking for a job, please let the office know.

A benefit concert featuring The Ken Worley Bluegrass Gospel Band will be on Friday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Soma Church, 212 44th Court NE, Tuscaloosa (just off Crescent Ridge Road close to Brown’s Nursery). There will be no charge for admission; donations will benefit the East Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl. Please come out for a night of good music and support the ETCSB.
