Heifer News Update
Each year our church gives an Ark to Heifer International. The Ark cost $5000. We collect the money all year. An Ark gives many families the opportunity to have a better life, a stable income and for some the resources to send their children to school for the first time. The animals provide food for the families and an income stream as the families can sell the eggs and baby animals they breed. For $120, we purchase a goat, sheep or a pig. For $20, we purchase a small flock of chicks, ducks or geese. For $30, we purchase a hive of honey bees. We also purchase rabbits, and tree seedlings. Thank you for supporting families in other parts of the world through this ministry.

Christmas Giving for UPES
One of FLUM’s Christmas traditions is to provide clothing and toys as Christmas gifts for University Place Elementary School students whose families need financial assistance for gift-giving. The UPES counselor works with several organizations and agencies to assure that all low-income students receive gifts and that giving is not duplicated for identified families. Since UPES has grown by a third this academic year, the need will be greater than usual. Special thanks go to Carol and Jim Cargile, who coordinate this mission by consulting with UPES and buying, wrapping, and delivering all the gifts to the school. Donations are needed during November so the Cargiles will have plenty of time to have the gifts ready before school lets out in December. Please write “UPES Christmas· on the memo line of checks. All donations are deeply appreciated.
