2017 Forest Lake United Methodist Church (FLUM) Christmas Missions
The Angel Tree is set up on Sunday mornings, Nov. 19, Nov. 26, Dec. 3, at midweek meals and in the office all week. This tree is filled with names of developmentally delayed children from lower income families in Tuscaloosa. Please sign out your angel and bring the gifts back by Monday, December 4th.
University Place Elementary School Christmas Gifts
The social worker from the school gives us a list of children and their sizes. Our goal is to raise $800 for the presents and clothing. Please earmark your check “UPES Christmas”. Please see our elves Jim and Carol Cargile for more information.
Throughout the holiday we will deliver poinsettias to our home-bound members. If you would like to help deliver please let us know.
Hospice of West Alabama Memorial Service
The service will be Wednesday, December 6 at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Hospice Volunteers will be the greeters. On Thursday, December 7th we will furnish refreshments at Hospice for the Christmas Carolers.
Manger Project and Share the Warmth
December 6 at 5:00 pm, bags of practical items are filled for the elderly in our community who are lower income. Please earmark checks “Manger Project”. Please see Bob Haraway for more information. Share the Warmth, 6:00 pm is a fun church family time to sing the songs of the holiday. Donations are accepted for youth missions. The college mission trip will offer a meal on Wed.at 5:00 pm. The meal will be Chicken and Dumplings and Grill Cheese Sandwiches. The youth will provide dessert during the intermission of Share the Warmth. The money donated for the meal will go towards the College Age Dominican Republic trip and the dessert money will go towards the youth Christmas shopping for children. Please sign up in the church office or on the attendance pads on Sunday December 3rd.
White Christmas Offering
This offering goes directly to the United Methodist Children’s Home. The offering will be collected through the month of December. Please earmark checks “White Christmas” and place in the offering plate or send to the church office.
Christmas Day Meals on Wheels
On Christmas Day we serve Meals on Wheels to individuals who do not have family to help them with their meal. We are looking for a team of five people who will help us prepare the meal on Sunday, Christmas Eve, from 10 am- noon. We need four people to come back on Christmas morning from 9 -11 am to put the meal in the to go boxes. We also need people to make seven cakes for the dessert. They can be delivered Sunday morning on Christmas Eve. If you would like to sign up to deliver meals, make cakes, cook or put the meal together, please let the church office know.
