Outreach Update 10-25-18

We serve at the East Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl on Sunday, October 28th. We will prepare 150 sack lunches in our church kitchen at 12:15 pm, after the Connections Service. Then we will distribute the sandwiches in the parking lot behind Alberta Baptist Church at 2 p.m. This is a great ministry for Sunday school classes and children. Contact Carolyn Lindsey at 292-9639 to volunteer to help.

Our college students are still collecting canned goods for the Beat Hunger Beat Auburn Food Drive. The canned goods can be placed in the Welcome Center.

Our Mission Speaker for October is Ellen Potts. She is the executive director for Habitat for Humanity. She will speak October 28 during the 9:00 am Worship Service. Our November speaker is Lynn Armour. She is the executive director for the Good Samaritan Clinic. She will speak November 18th at 9:00 am.

We are planning another trip to the Dominican Republic with Filters of Hope. This trip is open to ages 16 and up. We have booked 15 tickets for June 8-14, 2019. The trip cost around $1400. More information will follow.

Every three months our church provides a meal to the volunteers and doctors at the Good Samaritan Clinic. We have been providing these meals for years. We are now giving the clinic $125 each quarter to cover the cost of the meal.

Each month our church is faithful in serving with our time at University Elementary School, Hospice of West Alabama, Meals on Wheels, Love Stitchers, Scouts, United Methodist Women Missions, visiting our home-bound and sick and many more. We also serve with our money each month supporting the Good Samaritan Clinic, Jesus Way Homeless Shelter, Weekday Kids Scholarships, and the In As Much Fund. The In As Much Fund allows us to help people with power, rent and medical supplies. We are also helping one family each month with our time and money by assisting them with stable housing as they work their way out of poverty. This family works with our Working United Ministry.
