News & Notes 9-9-17

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY —
On Sept. 12th at 10:00 a.m. in the Aldersgate classroom, the group will begin a 5 week discussion based on the book “What Every Church Member Should Know about Poverty.” How do those in poverty, the middle class and the wealthy function differently in society? Do you know the “hidden rules” of economic class? How do mindsets differ about relationships and stewardship? What are the issues with integrating the poor into the church? Please come join the discussion.

CARING MINISTRIES —
The mission of Caring Ministries is to provide a meal or reception for families before or after funeral services. Teams have been organized to secure food, organize setup, and clean up. Each team has two chairpersons and lists of workers and contributors. These teams allow us to share the opportunity to serve and to prevent the entire responsibility from falling on just a few people. When there is a death in the church family, our pastors will meet with family members to see if they want us to provide a lunch (for 25 people) or a reception (for 30 people). Families who request a meal or reception for a larger number of people will be responsible for the additional cost. Lunches include: meat, vegetable, salad, bread, and dessert. Receptions include: beverage, sandwiches, cookies, and nuts. Flowers, tablecloths, and serve ware are also provided. Team members are also asked to provide various items. The Caring Ministries Team welcomes donations to offset costs. We are happy to serve grieving families who have lost loved ones.
