Moving Forward in Lent

GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR BEING MORE HEALTHY
February 22 is Ash Wednesday with a Service of Ashes at 6:30 PM – the beginning of the season of Lent which leads us to the Cross but as you well know it doesn’t stop there in fact, it points us to a remarkable reality the Resurrection of Jesus, the greatest turning point in human history Meaning No more Dead Ends! Death has been defeated! Life is actually Eternal!
We want to offer you the opportunity to experience Life the way Jesus shared it with his first Disciples. In an unhurried, loving way he not only told them about this life, but he also showed them how to live it. Yes, they studied the Bible and prayed together … but they also did much more that helped them to experience the truth of what they studied and prayed. They also worshipped and fellowshipped … ate meals together and fasted … laughed and cried together … they shared life TOGETHER.
This is what the Christian life is meant to be. It’s not simply about “going to church.” It’s much more about how the abiding presence of Christ can and will permeate your life… helping you to find much more fulfillment and meaning… much more faith, hope and love… and joy too. It does not pretend to be a problem-free existence. Jesus’ life certainly wasn’t, but it does offer you a way through this life that is much better than any other way you could find, and you don’t have to do it alone! Having real friends is one of the greatest blessings in life. Having real friends in Christ makes it a thousand times better.
So we invite you to move FORWARD with us during the season of Lent in several ways … Join a small group that will meet weekly – where you can share with friends in Christ and hopefully make some new ones. A list of these will be made available to you this Sunday … so you can choose the one that fits your schedule, location & patterns the best.
These groups will read and study Five Practices of Fruitful Living, a wonderful book by Bishop Robert Schnase that will help you better answer the question, “How do I cultivate a life that is purposeful, deep and fruitful?” You will be supported in exploring the commitments, critical risks, and personal practices that open you to God’s grace. Through it all you will develop a more authentic spiritual life that helps you to discover the difference God intends for you to make in the world.
Use the daily devotional book – Cultivating Fruitfulness which will guide you throughout each week in considering one Practice of Fruitful living that will be the focus of our worship each Sunday during Lent. This will prime your pump & prepare you for a new blessing in your life.
Plan to be in worship each Sunday during Lent as we experience how each of these practices opens us to God’s Grace in fresh ways.
Sign-up for these groups & order the two books – both for only $20 beginning this Sunday through Sunday, February 19. Scholarships are available.
