FLUM Hope Initiative for Everyone
Our church has the opportunity to share in the Hope Initiative by providing backpacks and school supplies to 200-300 children in the Rosedale Housing Project and surrounding area. Backpacks will be filled in the Salvation Army chapel across the park from the Salvation Army on Greensboro Avenue. Children’s names have been identified by the City School System and the Department of Human Resources as needing help with school supplies.
Donations and supplies are needed by July 19. Each completed backpack will cost $30. Donations can be made to FLUM (with backpacks in the memo line) or supplies can be purchased and brought to the Gathering Area. Some of the most needed items include wide-ruled and college-ruled loose leaf paper, #2 pencils, pencil sharpeners and pencil pouches, markers, crayons- 8, 16 and 24 count, colored pencils, watercolor paints, colored pocket folders
with prongs, Elmer’s glue/glue sticks, Fiskar scissors, tabbed dividers, school boxes, flat pink erasers.
Many volunteers are needed from FLUM. On Thursday, July 22, supplies will be placed for distribution at the chapel at 10am Several volunteers are needed then. Distribution will be at 9am on the 24th. We need 40-50 adults to help take children to their area with their school lists and fill their backpacks. If you can help on Thursday, July 22, at 10am and/or on Saturday, July 24, please call Jane Darden at 758-6667 to sign up. Your donations will make this outreach possible.
