What a fun Sunday we had! Kiddos are settled into their new classes and are having a blast! A big thanks to Dan Dickinson for filling in for Science last Sunday. He had gears moving and propellers flying with the circuit board. I’m sure you heard all the “whoah’s!” and “wow’s!” as you walked down the hall.
Did you get your fall calendar this Sunday? During August, our classes will be in the Koinonia classroom from 6-7 p.m. and are open to all ages of the church. We will have guest teachers show us how to make ornaments from years past. This will be a great time to mix and mingle with lots of our church members.
For September, October, November, January and February, our Wednesday schedule will be: 1st Wed.: Bible Story Introduction/Special Snack; 2nd Wed.: Movie Clip/Craft Night; 3rd Wed.: Imagination Station; 4th Wed.: College Rec Night. This brings me to my next request… I’m looking for three volunteer teachers. This would work out to working one time a month, for only five times! Scripts, recipes and directions are all provided! Duties are – 1st Wed. volunteer: introduce the Bible story and make a special snacks with the kiddos; 2nd Wed. volunteer: play the movie short and complete the monthly craft with the kiddos; 3rd Wed. volunteer: Imagination Station night! This night has a fun activity, usually science-based.
Parents, we will be participating in the upcoming church-wide poverty focus. Our kiddos will have two missions, one local and one overseas. For the local mission, we will fill as many boxes as possible with snacks for University Place kiddos! Then, for our overseas mission, we’re raising money to send with our College Group on their mission to the Dominican Republic with Filters of Hope. And, we have a secret donor who is willing to match us dollar for dollar to $100. So that means if our kiddos can raise $100, it will automatically be doubled to $200! Look for our donation gauges in the Children’s Hall in September.
On Friday, Sept. 8 from 6-8 p.m., we’ll have our next big kiddo’s event – Tailgate and Skate! Plan to bring your favorite tailgating food to share while we watch our favorite kiddos skate. Of course, parents are more than welcome to skate, too!
A huge “thank you” to our parents and congregation for supporting these kiddos and the Children’s Ministry!
